Living on Buchenweg
Vaduz, Liechtenstein
Located on the slope between Meierhofstrasse and Buchenweg, the apartment building is located in a quiet location near the forest. The topography of the plot allows the entrance to the building to be detached from traffic.
The building looks like a three-story building towards Buchenweg. Access by car is via Meierhofstrasse. The spacious forecourt of the parking garage offers the vehicles enough space for manoeuvring and also serves as an additional parking area. The building is additionally delimited by the heavily frequented Meierhofstrasse by the protected outbuilding area. The traffic-calmed location on Buchenweg - which ends in a cul-de-sac - is used as the main access for visitors and pedestrians. The east/west oriented building contains a total of seven apartments on three floors. The adjoining rooms in the basement are placed towards the slope. An open arcade to the east opens up the apartments with passage zones that can be used by seating.
The different apartment sizes are characterized by differentiated living qualities. They are each provided with spacious outdoor spaces which are directly oriented to the covered loggia. The outer apartments are each oriented on three sides while the inner units are aligned on two sides. The building, designed with Scots, is particularly evident on the lower residential floors. Its structure opens up to the top, which is widely. The zoning in day and night areas is the central point of the design idea in all apartments. From the outside, the building is shown with a simple pane and panel structure. Reserved and timeless in materialization, it embeds itself in the green outdoor space.
