Living in the park, Schaanerhof
Schaan, Liechtenstein
The two building bodies of the superstructure together with the old trees form a park, which is oriented to the existing park and offers the residents a protected outdoor space.
The property of the former Hotel Schaanerhof is built with two apartment buildings, which offer space for fifteen residential units. The existing park will be preserved in principle and will serve the residents in the future as a private and common outdoor space. The two building volumes are connected with a pavilion-like building which forms the main entrance to the complex. The majority of the parking lot is laid underground, so that the footpaths can be passed in a traffic-calmed manner. On the southwest side of the buildings are the private front gardens of the condominiums in the layer close to the house. These are separated from each other and against the entrance area with evergreen hedges. This creates, together with the seating in front of the apartments, a spacious outdoor area.
The surrounding parapets, formulated as ribbons, protect the privacy of the residents and give the building volume a dynamic and light appearance despite their massive construction. The bodies are divided by a clear Scottish structure. The buildings are placed in the environment with a terrace adapted to the slope. The apartments are oriented in all directions, with the focus on a south and west orientation. Both the terrace apartments and the garden apartments receive spacious outdoor spaces while the storey apartments impress with their loggias, among other things. All apartments receive a high quality of living and create the desired privacy.
