House Veranda
Olgiasca, Italy
The unique location on the northern peninsula of Lake Como had a great influence on the Casa Veranda project. Step by step, the old stock was analyzed, restructured and a new living concept with orientation to the lake was put into the existing walls.
The house is enlarged into the mountain to generate more living space. In general, people are used to the front of the lake, while the sleeping and private rooms are located in the rear, quieter part of the house. A filigree porch frame made of stocked concrete, which grows from the stock, sheathes the old building and forms the private outdoor areas of the Casa Veranda. A pool on the property wall provides a connection to Lake Como.
The deliberately used black plates give the pool a similarity to the surface of the lake. A selected glass barrier to the slope allows a clear view of the lake. This also succeeds in integrating the private garden space of the house into the infinite expanse of the panorama and completely hiding the boundaries of the property.
