Grand Théâtre of Geneva – Transformation, Expansion, Rehabilitation, and Renovation
Geneva , Switzerland
The Grand Théâtre was built following the model of the Opéra Garnier and inaugurated in 1879. In 1962, the building was partially reconstructed after a fire destroyed part of the structure. Since then, no major works had been undertaken, making a new large-scale intervention necessary. The rehabilitation, transformation, and expansion of the building were carried out in a particularly dense urban context and notably included:
Addition of two underground levels along Boulevard du Théâtre
Creation of meeting rooms within the suspended false ceiling
Replacement of all technical installations
Treatment and refurbishment of all exposed concrete surfaces
