Expertise on Marble Façade and Rehabilitation Plan
HERITAGE LANDMARK
The WHO Executive Board building, like the WHO headquarters, was built in 1966 by the renowned architect and professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Jean Tschumi. These architectural works are today recognized as being of major international heritage importance.
PROGRAM
The façades of the WHO Executive Board Room consist of a harmonious arrangement of Carrara marble panels in various shades and triangular cuts. Over the years, these panels have warped and cracked, and the durability of the façade is now seriously compromised. In order to preserve these elements as best as possible, our firm was commissioned to carry out an in-depth material study, with the aim of understanding the aging phenomena and proposing rehabilitation methods that respect the heritage value of the structure to the greatest possible extent.
