An Entrance That Embodies the Brand’s Identity

As the world’s leading manufacturer of printing inks, DIC Corporation embarked on the reconstruction of its global headquarters building in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.
In line with this major transition, our design team was engaged to create a workplace environment that embodies the company’s new vision of Universality, Diversity, and Agility. This interior design project aimed to support dynamic internal communication and promote a comfortable, inclusive working environment for a diverse workforce.

At the heart of the new headquarters lies the entrance, designed as a symbolic “face” of the company. The expansive, double-height space features a statement wall composed of latticework that visually expresses “the essence of DIC.” Inspired by traditional Japanese architectural motifs and the historic character of the Nihonbashi district, this wall integrates a play of light and color referencing Japan’s traditional hues. The design invites visitors to experience DIC’s identity through layers of shifting colors and light glimpsed through the lattice, creating a unique and immersive spatial experience.

The office areas are designed under the concept of Work@Everywhere, striking a balance between mobility and flexibility. Modular planning allowed for the creation of open, adaptable environments where employees can freely choose their ideal working locations. This new layout overcomes challenges faced in the previous office by naturally encouraging communication and collaboration among staff.
