Immeuble de la Coulouvrenière
Geneva, Switzerland
PROGRAM
This project involves the construction of a freestone building on an exceptional site in the very heart of Geneva, comprising around ten apartments (including transitional housing with social support) and a space for Atelier Galiffe (craft activities for people facing difficulties).
NATURAL MATERIALS
The use of traditional and eco-responsible materials—freestone for load-bearing walls and timber floors—is here combined with state-of-the-art technologies.
DRY ASSEMBLY
The very restricted construction footprint, due to the proximity of the Rhône and a dense urban fabric, as well as the nearby school, has led us to plan for a dry assembly approach, minimizing concrete use and prioritizing natural materials as much as possible.
RIVERSIDE PANORAMA
Through the distribution of different spaces via open walkways, each apartment will have, to the south, an outdoor area and, on the Rhône side, large bay windows extending the interiors towards a riverside landscape.
