FOS BOS New building of the vocational high school
Regensburg, Germany
The technical and vocational high schools have been combined at a new location
to form a vocational high school in a new building. This building is located on the site of the former Nibelungen Barracks in the south of the city of Regensburg.
The new vocational high school building is embedded in approximately 27,000 m² of outdoor facilities, which, as a campus, serve a variety of functions around the school building and the gymnasium.
The entire school grounds are open to the public.
The outdoor facilities, with their diverse, interconnected functional areas, follow the staggered layout of the buildings and the terrain. This results in three distinct areas:
The forecourt on which the buildings stand, the three staggered playgrounds, each assigned to a different building section, and the sports area located on the lower level of the grounds. The school campus is barrier-free from north to south. Steps surround the individual playground areas, provide views of the landscape, and connect to the lower-lying sports facilities.
Bicycle parking and parking spaces are assigned to the buildings. Old trees were preserved. The proportions, planting, color, and material selection of the outdoor facilities are coordinated with the building.
