Split Stair House

The central element of the Split Stair House is a generous timber staircase designed as a seating landscape, providing access to the living area while also acting as a connecting element.

The half-level offset of the living floor creates an unexpected sense of generosity and makes the spatial connection between the levels tangible.

Living, dining and cooking are organised as flowing spatial zones. The dining area extends into a recessed terrace beneath the cantilevered upper floor - a sheltered outdoor space with a carefully framed connection to the landscape.

A delicate steel staircase forms a counterpoint to the solid timber seating steps and connects the living level with the private rooms on the upper floor.
