Show Biography

Daniel Henecka studied architecture at the University of Karlsruhe, now the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), from 1994 to 2002. While still a student, he received the Egon Eiermann Award in 1999/2000. He graduated with a diploma in 2002 and subsequently worked as a research assistant at the University of Karlsruhe.

From 2002 to 2004, he also worked at Agence ter, Karlsruhe/Paris. His engagement there with landscape, urban space and architectural context shaped his understanding of the relationship between building, site and surroundings.

In 2006, Daniel Henecka founded the office Henecka Architekten. Since then, he and his team have developed individual homes and a wide range of architectural projects shaped by the interplay between client, site and built context. Each building is conceived holistically: architecture, interiors and outdoor spaces are carefully coordinated, as are materiality, detailing, lighting and the transitions between interior and exterior spaces.

In 2021, Daniel Henecka was appointed a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA) in recognition of his architectural work.

Since 2023, he has also been a lecturer for “Architektur macht Schule”, a continuing education programme jointly organised by the Chamber of Architects and the Centre for School Quality and Teacher Education (ZSL). The programme supports teachers in introducing architecture and Baukultur into schools. In this context, he is committed to making architecture, spatial perception and the built environment accessible, understandable and tangible within an educational setting.

Daniel Henecka is a member of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects, the Association of German Architects BDA, the Federation of German Master Builders, Architects and Engineers BDB, and the Friends’ Association of the Federal Foundation of Baukultur.
