Split Stair House

Bruchsal, Germany

For us, a project does not begin with form, but with understanding. We want to know how people live, what matters to them, which routines shape their everyday lives and what they imagine a good place to live to be.

From this process of listening, a concept gradually emerges and becomes increasingly precise over the course of the project. Each house develops from its site, the architectural brief and the people for whom it is designed. It should be functionally convincing, emotionally resonant and work naturally in everyday life.
We do not see a house as an isolated object, but as a coherent whole. Architecture, interiors and outdoor spaces are considered together from the very beginning. Rooms, built-in elements, materials, sightlines, lighting, terraces, pathways, gardens and the transitions between inside and outside are all part of a holistic design approach.

This approach continues through to the implementation phase. In close coordination with specialist planners, manufacturers and craftspeople, we develop each project down to the finest detail. The result is architecture in which concept and execution come together — precise, individual and tailored to its specific setting.
Collaboration is a central part of the process. Through trust, dialogue and joint refinement, houses emerge that reflect the people who live in them. Each project is unique - shaped by its inhabitants, the site and the ambition to create a coherent architectural response.
