Tsuyoshi Tane, best known for the Estonian National Museum and the Tane Garden House at Vitra, is the subject of the latest architecture-related film from Louisiana Channel, which visited the architect's Paris studio and spoke with him about his unique archaeological approach he takes on each project.
”Time is about continuity. Time never stops, and it’s always continuing. Humans make periods to make things countable or measurable. But time never stops; it continues. And memory is about collectivity. It’s called collective memory. It’s not just one personal memory; our human existence is accumulated from generation to generation. So as an architect, I try to dig into the memory of the place, to collect, to think archaeologically, and thus to create an architecture for the future.”
