Louisiana Channel has expanded Make Materials Matter, a 15-minute short film profiling Danish architect Søren Pihlmann, into a nearly one-hour film that presents Pihlmann's curation and restoration of the Danish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale alongside other projects that embody his eponymous firm approach to building simple, reusing materials, and using fewer resources.
The first iteration of Make Materials Matter was released in May, coinciding with the opening of the Venice Architecture Biennale. Accordingly, the film focused on the material explorations in Build of Site, Pihlmann's curation of the Danish Pavilion. The new film, embedded below and available on the Louisiana Channel website, presents additional documentation of the pavilion but also footage of other pihlmann architects projects, including House 14A and Thoravej 29, both in Copenhagen, and a new project underway in Mynämäki, Finland. Three years in the making, Marc-Christoph Wagner and Simon Weyhe's Make Materials Matter is well worth watching.
