KPF Goes 'Behind the Design'
A new series of videos from Kohn Pedersen Fox during their 50th anniversary year takes viewers behind the design of various KPF projects, including the mixed-use supertall at 520 Fifth Avenue in New York City and Panorama St Paul’s, the conversion of a 1980s building in London into at mixed-use development.
In a five-minute video posted to YouTube a year ago, KPF took viewers inside their Midtown Manhattan studio that occupies a full floor in a 1920s commercial building across the street from Bryant Park. One block in the other direction is 520 Fifth Avenue, an 88-story “vertical village” that is nearing completion and is the subject of the firm's latest “Behind the Design” video. World-Architects got a hard-hat tour of the building back in 2024, so we were happy to come across a new video with James von Klemperer and Nicole McGlinn taking viewers inside the building—from its three (yes, three) lobbies to its penthouse at nearly 1,002 feet (305 m) above street level.
Watch “The Making of 520 Fifth Avenue” and two other “Behind the Design” videos published so far this year below or on KPF's YouTube channel.
