Airline ticket offices can sometimes be fraught places. So when Swiss International Air Lines AG (SWISS) remodelled its main ticket offices in Zürich, New York and Tokyo we took the opportunity to devise spaces that would calm even the most demanding customer.
Sound was central to our idea. We wanted the acoustics to create a mellow atmosphere where raised voices would be softened to a polite hum. To do this, we designed wooden wall panels that were crafted with a Swiss Cross pattern. As well as being decorative, these panels gave the new ticket office the ambience of an affluent private library. They are also a strong example of MACH’s principle of Designing on the Second View.Client, Planners
