Schulstrasse Housing
The residential building, with almost forty flats, replaces its outdated predecessor from the 1960s. Located near the centre of Pfäffikon, the new building surprises with its slightly extravagant exterior, which, according to the architects, is a mixture of commercial building and palazzo. This impression is created by the large glass fronts of the lower four floors and the crown-like attic floor. However, what was required were simply flats with uniformly sized rooms, high doors and outdoor spaces. Despite the striking exterior, the construction is also robust and well-crafted, and the entire residential building is also a cost-effective new build. In keeping with the robustness and the desired good indoor climate, the exterior walls are made of breathable and well-insulated Porotherm single-shell masonry.
