Residences at Asagiri-Oka
Hyogo Prefecture, Japan
This house is located on a hillside development site that was developed in the 1970s. To ensure unobstructed views, the main living areas are situated on the second floor, and a rooftop terrace has been added to encourage the living space to extend outward. Furthermore, the roof employs a reciprocating structural framework to create an open, column-free space, topped by a square roof. A retractable skylight is installed at the apex, and by placing the staircase directly beneath it, the design creates a sequence of ascending toward the light.
