High School

The existing school campus with primary school, secondary school and sports halls had to be extended by a high school. We designed a very compact three-storey building on a rectangular footprint. On the ground floor, administrative offices, student lounges for the day care and a cafeteria with 145 seats are located. The light-filled atrium can be connected to the music room if used as an auditorium. Open stairs lead to the two upper floors. All 28 regular classrooms, the special classrooms and a library are lined along the façades. Auxiliary rooms are lit by the two inner courtyards. The clear volume, controlled ventilation with heat recovery, photovoltaic systems, district heating and good insulation almost result in a passive house. We like to call that a passive house of common sense, without exorbitant costs for the last bit of energy savings.
