The project involves the construction of a building on two floor above ground, which has a covered area of 765 sm, located in Ponte Buggianese. On ground floor is located the municipal library, which has a surface area of approximately 615 sm, and on the first floor are located a number of classrooms and other facilities of total 640 sm as extension of the near primary school. The library has an independent entrance from the school building and is not linked to it because it has a function for the community. The extension of primary school on the upper floor, is connected by a small bridge with oval windows. The location is the only possible, because naturally lends itself to the continuation of the current primary school. Compared to the rigidity and symmetry that distinguishes the various bodies of the school district this new building is characterized by its roundness and partial contortions to make spaces less boring and more “happy”. The atrium, collective activities, have straight and curve walls. A series of circular skylights supplying of natural light. Normal classrooms are equipped with covered balconies, in addition to move prospects of the external facade, become the continuation of classrooms, for outdoor activities. On the Ground floor, opens the entrance of the library. The glazed lobby is covered by a large portico supported by two important pillars, wich allows even here, the continuation of the library. The entrance of the library was treated very carefully, trying to maintain that tone of solemnity that have certain places to make it more accessible. Then, the glass for its transparency, allows you to see inside, and also at night, light becomes a screen in which you can see users and operators moving inside. The entry zone, compared to the preliminary draft, has been extended to about 40 sm following a request by the municipal administration. Here are the tour information and loan consultation area, for magazines and newspapers, 3 offices and toilets. Space lends itself also to house temporary exhibitions. In the reading room, which occupies an area of approximately 380 sm, incudes, in addition to the shelving and reading tables, an area with internet points.
