Kop Dakpark
Woonstad Rotterdam is developing a new residential building in the Nieuw-Mathenesse district, at the edge of Bospolder-Tussendijken, Spangen, Het Witte Dorp, and Oud-Mathenesse. The building will accommodate 154 homes, including 65 social and 89 mid-rental units, and will feature 1,000 m² of commercial space and parking facilities. Covering a total residential surface of 112,850 m² and 650 m² of commercial area, the project is a significant addition to the neighborhood, designed to provide high-quality, affordable, and life-resistant homes for residents of all ages.
Located at the head of the Dakpark, the building aims to become a green icon that enhances local biodiversity and supports the flora and fauna. The design, created by the Barcelona-based architectural firm H3O in collaboration with Dutch firm INBO, was selected as the winner of the 2019 Europan competition for young European architects. Following the completion of the building, expected by the end of 2026, the municipality of Rotterdam will develop the surrounding outdoor spaces, further enriching the urban environment. The project, commissioned by Woonstad Rotterdam with a total budget of €28,000,000 (VAT included), contributes directly to addressing the housing crisis in Delfshaven by offering a mix of social and mid-rental homes that also allow seniors in adjacent neighborhoods to relocate to more suitable residences.
