The ideas of the office and laboratory building focus on the discipline among various parts of utilization as well as the internal and external relationship. The plan of the building includes a series of public spaces, inside and outside building. The relationship between courtyards and the other parts of the building is somewhat similar to the spatial organization in the traditional Chinese gardens.
The six staircases in the two story high corridor connect the entire building in the most direct way. The circulation and the corresponding sky-windows create opportunities and the right atmosphere for the researchers to meet and communicate with one another in public places.
