The Sagrada Família and Barcelona. 144 Years of a Shared Journey

The Sagrada Família and Barcelona, 144 years of a shared journey’ is an exhibition that traces a shared chronology between the Temple and the city that has watched it grow over several generations.

Through a carefully curated selection of photographs, some of them previously unseen, we delve into the history of a collective project that has become a symbol of Barcelona and a World Heritage site.

The exhibition offers a photographic narrative that combines the chronology of the construction of the Sagrada Família with the major moments of Barcelona’s transformation. This dual perspective allows architecture, city, society and spirituality to be related.

Each panel represents a key moment in the shared journey between the temple and the city. Thus, a path unfolds showing how the basilica has grown while accompanying, reflecting, and dialoguing with Barcelona’s major social, urban, and cultural milestones. The result is a visual narrative that speaks of community, persistence, and a collective vision.
