The task was to create two identical buildings each with nine small startup apartments in a small town in northeastern Bohemia.
When creating the design I wanted to maintain the smooth contact of the residents with the greenery, which they are used to from the surrounding landscape. Therefore I created a small part of the plot for private greenery, which will be an ideal place for active rest of the residents. In each house, always one of the apartments has direct access to the garden. Other residents can benefit from lightweight suspended balconies, separated from the living area by glass walls, which breaks the barrier between the interior and the "green" exterior, as well as a roof terrace that offer privacy for sitting, sunbathing, but also for drying clothes.
The fully utilized area of the land for outdoor activities shifts the volumes of private space of the houses to the height. The masses of the objects themselves levitate and create a certain tension. This levitation symbolically reflects the very tension of creation and extinction. The openings of the house shells seem to be facing upwards, which is also enhanced by the sloping masses of entrances to the roof terraces. The imaginary spiral flow adheres to the central axis that leads it upward. The spiral association was called by the designation of the apartments as "starting". The axis of this spiral represents ...
A significant part of the design of objects is the colour solution. The smooth facades of the houses are monochrome, the right house grey and the left dark brown. This is not the only difference between the two houses, but also the layout of openings, which underscores the individuality of the dwellers. The backbone of the buildings is markedly coloured staircase spaces, reminiscent of chimneys with their upper lighting.
