We wanted a fun house where we could refresh ourselves at home every day without having to go all the way to a vacation home or resort! The design started with this request, but the house was located in the middle of Tokyo. The surrounding area is quite densely populated.
The site is only 25 tsubo, which is not a large area to build in.
So we built an inner terrace like a sunroom in the sunniest part of the house, and planned the bathroom to be connected to the terrace.
A vacation home or a resort is a place where people go to refresh themselves in nature away from the city. If that is what is required of a "home" where we spend our days, 、、、、、 what should we do?
Perhaps there is a hint in escaping from the space and furnishings that we have been conditioned to believe is what a so-called "house" should be like.
It is pleasant, liberating, a little inconvenient, but comfortable, etc...
By designing toward such a feeling, it may not look like a "house," but it is like a house inside and outside, like a terrace and a bathroom.
Like a terrace and like a bathroom. Like a bathroom, like a second living room.
We wanted to design such an experience.
After moving in, we are happy to see that the residents are immediately enjoying living in the house more than we had imagined.
