The new Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center includes the large national museum, library and a concert hall. The central element of the architectural design is the unity between plaza, landscape design and doubly-curved building envelope. The complex geometry of the building as well as the remoteness of the building site were two specific challenges of this particular project. The 9 ha project is held up by the government as a project of national importance ahead of Baku`s bid fot the 2016 Olympics.
