The past has done great damage to the character and the identity of Altona Museum in Hamburg. From today’s point of view, the architectural and content-related decisions of reconstruction, in particular in the 1950s and 1980s, are hard to understand. Therefore, it was a positive and correct decision of the Hamburg Culture Authority, to leave the chosen route of small steps.

On behalf of the “Stiftung Historische Museen Hamburg/Altonaer Museum für Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte” we have developed a master plan, which considers the museum’s long-term future. The master plan was divided into seven construction stages, which – according to the urgency of the project and economic situation – can be realised separately.
