Mandarin Oriental Bai Nom

Phu Yen, Vietnam

Sheltered within one of Vietnam’s most pristine bays, Mandarin Oriental Bai Nom unfolds as a sanctuary shaped by landscape, light, and the quiet power of nature. The design is guided by an ethos of restraint—an approach where raw materials, soft finishes, and a calm palette allow the architecture to integrate seamlessly with its surroundings. Inspired by the sun’s daily arc and the shifting tones of sea and sky, the spaces reflect the warm gradients of sunrise and sunset, evoking serenity and an immediate connection with the natural world.

The masterplan embraces the contours of the bay, allowing cliffs, hills, and the beach to define the character of the resort. Contemporary architecture blends with a profound sense of place, orchestrating pathways and views that frame the landscape while preserving privacy and intimacy. Every element is crafted to heighten immersion, subtle transitions, layered textures, and a spatial rhythm that mirrors the calm movement of the ocean.

In this setting, design becomes an invitation to slow down.
Quiet forms and thoughtful proportions allow the colors of the land, the changing atmosphere, and the refined details of the architecture to come forward. Drawing from a modern interpretation of Asian architectural language, generous overhangs and elegant rooflines settle naturally into the tropical terrain, creating a dialogue between built structure and living landscape.

Across the site, accommodations embrace their unique settings while sharing a unified sense of tranquillity.
Hill Villas are positioned along the rocky cliffside, each featuring impressive infinity pools that visually merge with the open sea. Beach Villas extend toward the pristine shoreline, opening directly onto soft sand and uninterrupted ocean views. Guest Suites are designed to feel like private homes, each with its own pool and dedicated access, offering intimacy and comfort within a refined, contemporary environment.

The villas and suites are conceived as contemporary retreats shaped by openness and light.
Expansive terraces and large sliding apertures dissolve boundaries between interior and exterior, offering uninterrupted views and a constant connection to the surroundings. Materials remain honest and tactile, grounding each space in authenticity and calm sophistication.

Mandarin Oriental Bai Nom stands as a harmonious union of nature, craft, and timeless design.
Understated yet deeply expressive, it celebrates the identity of the site and creates a setting where architecture enhances the beauty of the land—an experience defined by serenity, elegance, and an enduring sense of place.
