Lounge Bridge Renovation

The village where the project is located will have the possibility of planning and road adjustment in the future, accordingly, the renovation design will cope with the uncertainty of future changes in the village as a temporary solution.

Two internal streams divide the village into three residential areas. The additional structure is designed as an independent braided structure, and “stands” on the original bridge deck, so that the original bridge body does not need to be damaged during construction, and transforming it into the public space which facilitates the residents’ activities.

The same type of timber is assembled into different sections, which are combined to divide the bridge into paragraphs with varying sceneries . The design transforms the bridge from vehicle scale to human behavior scale.

It is constructed in a simple manner to allow for future changes and once dismantled its materials can be recycled. The renovation of the whole bridge was mainly completed by three carpenters.
