hive - hub for innovation, vision and execution
Hermannstraße 6, Göppingen, 德国
With the hive project, a forward-looking technology campus is being created on the historic Boehringer site in Göppingen, bringing together development, application, and production within a unified architectural concept. The transformation of the site establishes a platform for real, technology-driven value creation, connecting industrial heritage with a visionary future.
A Place for Progress
On the former Boehringer site, hive – hub for innovation, vision and execution, Göppingen is emerging as a unique place for technological progress, creative development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The project combines architectural vision, sustainable construction, and a future-oriented usage concept to form an AI campus with impact beyond the region.
New Space for Ideas
Where industrial production once defined the site, the heart of a dynamic future campus now beats. In Hall 1 of Plant 3, hive is taking shape as a space for research, development, and creative work. A key architectural feature is the house-in-house principle: 22 fully upcycled 40-foot shipping containers form a modular spatial structure across two levels, enabling a wide range of usage scenarios. Workshops, prototyping units, laboratories, and meeting rooms can be flexibly and individually configured — always with the aim of connecting technology and creativity.
Open. Connected. Visionary.
At the core of the AI campus lies a large central marketplace. An open kitchen, seating areas, and shared office spaces create places for encounter and exchange, fostering interdisciplinary work and creative impulses. This is complemented by a second, smaller plaza in the left section of the hall, offering additional meeting points and spaces for retreat. Large-format windows provide views into the containers, establish visual connections, and make innovation visible.
Growing Together, Creating Impact
hive is a collaborative initiative launched by the City of Göppingen, Wohnbau Göppingen, Kreissparkasse Göppingen, Mira Vision, Kleemann, Leonhard Weiss, and EVF – Energieversorgung Filstal. Together, they are creating a place that attracts talent, strengthens the region’s innovative capacity, and enables cooperation between research and industry. From the very beginning, hive has been shaped by its community, which actively uses the campus and continuously fills it with new ideas.
The powerful reuse of industrial structures gives the project a distinctive and charismatic framework for collaborative work. The modular container system creates a flexible spatial logic that encourages exchange and productive interaction. Authentic materials and the central marketplace link past and future, forming a vibrant and identity-defining place.
