The aim of this project is to integrate it with the surrounding context, as the relation with the hills and Mount Maddalena is considered essential. The building is therefore looking towards the natural landscape and maintaining it thanks to the reduced height of the outline, respecting the hilly view from the road.
The house has an irregular “l” shape, mainly closed towards the road side with a transparency, open to the west towards the hill. The volume consists of a basement with garages, cellar, laundry and technical rooms with a floor above-ground level at a height of 2.35 meters from the street level. the main floor level therefore corresponds to the average height of the house, which is consequently higher than the road.
The house defines a virtual courtyard, the fourth vertex of which is made up of a tree that closes its shape. the arrangement enhances, in relation to the distance from the boundaries, the quality of the space open towards the hill and where the rooms are it closes in relation to the road.
Three materials were used here: glass, which characterises the lower part of the building, dark brown plaster for the walls and aluminium of the same degree for the roof, the building’s cap. the color, despite the material diversity, integrates the form and makes the volume consistent with the land- scape. wood was used for the doors, windows, the sliding blind doors and the portion of the vertical walls dug on the east side.
The above ground level forms the living and sleeping areas, distributed in the two wings of the building. the living area has a kitchen and a large living and dining area, which overlooks the landscape.
