Villa Mahler

Stuttgart, Alemanha

At Villa Mahler, architects and designers, artists, specialist planners and craftsmen come together as a collective to create a unique, customised home made of exposed concrete, black steel and flamed wood. An expressive home for a young artist, reduced to a minimum in terms of form, colours and materials. A place where architecture and interior design merge into a harmonious whole.

The loft-like, light-flooded, ascetic-looking living wing forms the heart of the villa: the kitchen, dining and living areas come together in the open-plan space, which is over five metres high, to form a powerful unit of raw exposed concrete, black steel and burnt wood. The sunlight streaming in through the fully glazed front and the floor-to-ceiling sliding windows bathes the imposing room in a different atmosphere depending on the time of day and season, creating a fascinating interplay of light and shadow on the floor, walls and ceiling.

The unique architecture is complemented by handmade furniture and surfaces by Gebrüder Eichkorn, as well as textiles specially designed for Villa Mahler, such as carpets, curtains and upholstery fabrics by Belgian designer Nathalie Van der Massen. The lighting concept, developed in collaboration with PSLab, ensures optimum lighting throughout the building, tailored to the respective room utilisation. The outdoor spaces are also specifically highlighted in this way.

By utilising the synergies of the collective, Villa Mahler has become a beautiful, powerful place, a harmonious whole of architecture and interior design, a home that inspires creativity and where you can find peace and quiet at the same time.
