Circular thinking meets corporate identity: for the shared location of Ahrend and Office Group in Düsseldorf, Studio De Schutter developed a lighting concept that transforms existing luminaires, conserves resources, and creates a clear, contemporary atmosphere. The starting point is a precisely defined brief: maximum sustainability, without a visible “eco” aesthetic.

The space is intentionally conceived as a hybrid environment: showroom, workplace, and event venue at once. Light becomes the key tool that enables this transformation. Programmable lighting scenes allow for seamless shifts in mood from focused work settings to atmospheric event scenarios. Studio De Schutter describes this interplay between brand identity and hospitality as “Corpitality.”

At the core of the project is the reuse and evolution of existing luminaires. Instead of replacing them, they are carefully analyzed, adapted, and technically upgraded. This results in a system that combines high lighting quality with minimal resource use. Additions are introduced only where functional flexibility is required—through targeted accent lighting or adaptive technologies.

The project follows a clear principle: reduce, reuse, and selectively add. The outcome is a lighting solution that is energy-efficient, durable, and future-proof. It demonstrates that sustainability, design ambition, and technical precision are not opposites, but mutually reinforcing qualities.

At the same time, the project highlights how light extends beyond functionality to become a narrative element. It connects architecture, brand identity, and user experience - turning the space into an environment that not only performs, but communicates.
