The organization of the building is based on zoning the various programmatic components so that the new intervention has minimal visual impact on the campus. In order to achieve this, the existing curtain of trees along a storm water channel is used advantageously to screen the majority of buildings. Along the trees is a spine—a movement zone, containing staircases, elevators, and major conference rooms. The spine is anchored at two ends by the employees’ facility centre, which contains the food courts, gymnasium, ATMs, and internet stations.
Five Software Blocks are attached like plug-ons to the spine. These are clearly articulated as two separate blocks, one housing the software and call centre functions, and the other housing building services. In their architectural expressions, they are ‘containers’ for working and housing the support services—and are articulated as ‘machines’ for these functions.
