The Prehistory Museum

Time: 2006.03

Location: Gyeonggi-do province, Korea

Client: The organizing committee for the Gyeonggi-do Jeongok prehistory museum, Korea

Key dimensions: 5,000 m2

The prehistory museum, composed of a cluster of platforms, looks as though it was extracted vertically from the earth.   The site looks out to the Hantan river with scenic views from the buildings terrace and surrounding grounds.  The building, bridging a carved out urban space below, acts as an entrance gate for the upper part of the prehistory park. This passage, shadowed from the summer sun, links circulation paths to all tourist destinations of the museum’s grounds.
