GK Design operates at the intersection of architecture, technology, and human experience. Its work engages deeply with the future of environments, exploring the continuum between built, virtual, and speculative worlds while grounding every project in rigorous spatial research. The practice is shaped by a commitment to space planning, well-being driven design, phenomenological inquiry, and evidence-based spatial experimentation. Within this scope, GK Design develops four interrelated realms of creative and scientific exploration: built environments, future environments, virtual environments, and experimental environments.
GK Design is led by Dr. Georges Kachaamy, recognized for advancing the paradigm of Gravity Defiant Architecture (GDA), also known as Airborne Architecture, a visionary approach that reimagines habitation beyond terrestrial constraints and positions architecture as a medium for ecological regeneration and human flourishing. He is currently the Director of the Center for Research, Innovation, and Design (CRID) at the School of Architecture, Art, and Design at the American University in Dubai. His leadership includes six years as Chair of the Department of Architecture, during which the program achieved NAAB accreditation. His academic career spans more than fifteen years and includes a series of distinguished awards, such as the AUD President’s Award for Teaching Excellence, the President’s Award for Institutional Effectiveness, the Provost’s Award for Creativity in Design and the Visual Arts, and the Provost’s Award for Professional Engagement and Community Outreach.
Dr. Kachaamy is a professor of architecture, a registered architect, a Certified VR Sketch Trainer, a Gravity Sketch Certified Trainer, a VictoryXR Certified VR Educator, an associate member of the American Institute of Architects, and an affiliated member of the UAE Society of Engineers. He is a recipient of the Japanese Government Monbukagakusho Scholarship and earned his doctorate at the University of Tokyo.
Across more than two decades of professional practice in Dubai, Tokyo, and Beirut, he has contributed to a diverse breadth of national and international architectural and urban projects. His work ranges from contemplative spaces for meditation to urban conservation studies addressing cultural heritage and contemporary development. This multidisciplinary foundation informs the ethos of GK Design, where innovation, research, and design converge to imagine the environments of tomorrow.
