Coreum Hotel
For the Coreum Hotel in Stockstadt am Rhein, Studio De Schutter developed a lighting concept that deliberately balances the raw, industrial architecture with warmth and atmosphere. The aim was to create a retreat within a unique environment shaped by innovation and construction culture, while establishing a strong and independent spatial identity. In close collaboration with Atelier 522 and Freiraumconcept, a holistic approach was created in which lighting becomes an integral part of both architecture and use.
Exposed concrete, natural stone and clear geometries define the space. The lighting responds with soft, rounded luminaire forms, natural materials and a focused emphasis on key areas. Carefully composed lighting scenes allow the spaces to shift throughout the day, moving from functional brightness to a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere. Within the large open ground floor, light is used to structure zones, creating both orientation and a sense of comfort. A key highlight is the custom designed lighting installation in the bar area, acting as a visual anchor and bringing the space together.
Sustainability and longevity are essential elements of the concept. Replaceable light sources, reduced material use and thoughtful control strategies ensure efficiency and ease of maintenance. This approach continues outdoors, where warm light tones, restrained illumination and a careful connection between interior and exterior create a calm and cohesive overall experience. The result is a lighting concept that unites function, atmosphere and architectural clarity in a subtle yet distinctive way.
