The Nordic Cabin

The Nordic Cabin is an immersive installation designed by Styled Habitat for Nordic Homeworx’s return to Downtown Design 2025. Conceived as a modern reinterpretation of the Scandinavian retreat, the project presents a conceptual stand that blurs the boundary between installation and experience. Inspired by the journey from the forests of Småland to the desert landscape of Dubai, the space offers a calm, cabin-like retreat grounded in the values of Scandinavian living: nature, simplicity, and connection.

Emerging from Nordic Homeworx’s longstanding commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and material integrity, the cabin reflects the company’s heritage while introducing a contemporary design language shaped by Styled Habitat. Clad in reclaimed Kährs floorboards, the installation evokes the feeling of stepping into a remote Nordic cabin, while subtle architectural gestures anchor it within its regional context. The result is a space that feels both globally inspired and locally attuned, a dialogue between landscapes, materials, and ways of living.

Inside, the cabin reveals a multi-sensory experience designed to slow the rhythm of the fair. The air carries the grounding scent of timber, accompanied by an ambient soundscape delivered through Devialet speakers. Lighting by Viabizzuno adds depth and softness, guiding the eye across natural textures and curated forms. Furnishings by Carl Hansen, &Tradition, and Muuto, curated in collaboration with Ikonhouse, reinforce the installation’s ethos of quiet beauty and timeless craftsmanship. Complementing these pieces are handmade ceramics by Sloo Studio, whose organically shaped forms and natural finishes introduce an added layer of warmth and artisanal refinement. Dark green oak doors by Fronteriors introduce contrast and richness, while tactile surfaces and warm materials complete the atmosphere. Visitors are welcomed with homemade cinnamon rolls served on antique plates, a gesture that encapsulates Nordic comfort and hospitality.

The installation continues the Nordic Living philosophy introduced in the Nordic Homeworx showroom designed by Styled Habitat in 2024. Like the showroom, the Nordic Cabin is rooted in the belief that good design is both grounding and elevating, creating spaces that feel intimate, emotional, and deeply connected to their material origin.
