Pictured here are just a few of the exhibition's numerous drawings, renderings, models and watercolors that depict Steven Holl Architects' final design of the first Queens Public Library in twenty years. Not surprisingly, given the name of the physical exhibition and online companionHunters Point Community Library. Design Process. Steven Holl Architects.preliminary designs are also on display; many are far removed in form from the scheme being realized.

The 22,000-square-foot, $30 million library is sited on the edge of the East River next to Gantry State Park and at the base of the numerous residential towers that make up the multi-phase Queens West Development. As the image at top attests, the library will look out to the United Nations in midtown Manhattan, as well as to Louis I. Kahn's recently completed FDR Memorial at the northern tip of Roosevelt Island.
