House with Piers

House with Piers stands quietly against the tranquil backdrop of a dense bamboo forest. The site measures approximately 300 square meters, excluding the narrow flagpole portion. A retaining wall up to 2.5 meters high runs along the southeastern boundary, and the buildable area was restricted to the northwest corner of the lot due to local cliff ordinances.
Faced with limited design freedom, the project embraced simplicity, resulting in a bold, box-like volume. Viewed from the street, the façade features a large carport roof that accentuates perspective and naturally guides visitors toward the entrance. A small pier marks the threshold, and upon opening the door, a spacious living room unfolds—a central gathering space for the family.
A large opening frames views of the expansive garden, while a long pier extends outward, visually connecting the interior to the landscape. A straight staircase leads to the second floor, where a corridor offers framed views of the bamboo grove to the west and the neighboring bamboo garden to the east.
The master bedroom is flexibly designed to allow subdivision, enabling up to five bedrooms as needed.
