The Niederwald near Rüdesheim is the window into the world heritage cultural landscape of the Rhine Gorge, which stretches across 67 kilometres from Bingen to Koblenz. To celebrate the region’s 250-year birthday, the original landscape garden has been restored and a new visitor centre has been added to this internationally renowned tourist destination. jangled nerves is responsible for the interior design of the information centre with restaurant area. A new navigation and orientation system has also been installed in the surrounding forest.
Under the motto»Rhine. Reise. Rast.« (Rhine. Travel. Rest.), visitors are taken on a journey through the region to discover its fascinating history. In the park, a system of information pillars guides visitors and offers interesting facts about the area. The surfaces of the pillars are reflective on all sides, making them almost unnoticeable except for the information layer, which stands out thanks to its red base plate.
Upon entering the visitor centre, guests can learn all about the area and its geography: from an overview of the Rhine’s course through the Rhine Gorge to the Niederwald, to a model replica of the Niederwalddenkmal monument. Using photo panoramas projected onto »seamless screens«, visitors can embark on a virtual journey through the Rhine Gorge. In the restaurant area, guests are invited to take a seat and enjoy a well-deserved rest at the banquet table. Lampshades display 360° panoramas of the Rhine’s journey from Bingen to Koblenz. In keeping with the centre’s theme, these lampshades perfectly tie together the communication and restaurant areas.
