Payerne footbridge

The Payerne footbridge spans 36-m over the Broye river. The only material used for its construction, weathering steel, offers the footbridge a timeless character: a homogeneous and coloured patina will form over time and conserve it without maintenance. The footbridge balustrades consist in perforated steel plates. The perforations’ geometry and density reflect the internal forces of the structure. The setting-out of the resulting complex hole pattern was made possible by digital cutting technology.
