Parking garage Mercedes-Benz Mannheim
Mannheim, Germany
Carpark: Winning 1st Prize in the competition for designs for the new build of a multi-story carpark, the proposal stands out for its curved outer shape and interfaces in the urban fabric between the Mercedes-Benz works and local housing. A metal louvre structure is giving the façade its structure. It generates a flowing construct which opens upwards to support noise insulation and has slits for light and ventilation. By virtue of the perforation on the sides the louvres can function as a substructure on which plants can be placed, creating a favourable micro-climate.
