Organ facade of the Constantine Basilica
Konstantinplatz, Trier, Germany
The spectacular spatial effect of the Basilica stems from a clear, minimal and strong structuring of the space. Following these principles, the new organ was designed. Inspired by the three windows in the southern wall as a main structural theme, the organ is divided into three prisms (towers) with an evenly distributed, visually soothing surface.
This triad, together with the strengthening of the dominating verticality of the window recesses, minimizes the presence of the connecting horizontal elements of gallery and wind chests.
