New Primary School in Sorens

In place of the old school, which had become too small and no longer complied with regulations, the project now occupies the same elongated plot and enjoys a magnificent view of the Fribourg Pre-Alps.

In the spirit of the sloping topography of the Swiss village of Sorens, the project is inserted into the existing terrain by interweaving two distinct volumes. This volumetric play allows for a central circulation space that is conducive to teaching, around which the seven classrooms are positioned and benefit from two orientations each.

The facade was made of local white fir with the addition of a black saturator to guarantee the durability of the facade. The interior woodwork was custom designed to meet each specific need.
