The NDA Research Centre near Mumbai was designed in accordance with the Blue Sky Thinking principle. Proper lighting should support both creative and focused work on new ideas and open research.
The new international research centre “Imaginarium Aligunjan” of Nishith Desai Associates is located adjacent to the exclusive coastal town of Alibag near Mumbai, India. The Financial Times ranks NDA as the Most Innovative Law Firm in Asia. The main intention of the design was to promote "Blue Sky Thinking", i.e. breaking out of existing patterns of thought into free ideas, innovative research and strategy development.
The research centre with a total of 4.5 acres has state-of-the-art facilities for work and meetings, a 300 m² e-library, a multi-purpose auditorium with about 100 seats plus its own television studio in the basement. A banquet hall with up to 300 seats caters to larger events. For this purpose, it was equipped with high-quality D&B audio technology, individual LED lighting solutions and room acoustics optimization.
The Lindner Group from the Lower Bavarian town of Arnstorf and its subsidiary in Dubai made major contributions to the high-quality interior fit-out. For example, Lindner installed COMPwood claddings for walls and ceilings with integrated LED light channels of type LK 18 LED in the auditorium. These panels are installed in a staggered layout and executed as 900 x 900 mm honeycomb elements with real wood application. Metal ceiling panels of type LMD-E were installed in different versions in the banquet hall and in the conference room. They have been individualised with custom LED patterns or perforations in the form of the company logo. Another variation comes in the form of the LMD-L LAOLA Shine baffle ceiling and other solutions for ceilings and luminaires in several areas.
In addition to solutions for ceilings and luminaires, Lindner also supplied NORTEC raised floors with a custom ceramic tile covering or oak parquet, respectively. This choice adds a bespoke finish and individual patterns to the floors and the overall visual impression of the rooms. Custom solutions were also implemented for partition wall systems and doors.
