The LernWerk Bocholt is conceived as an open and inviting house for culture and education. The original shape of the historic spinning mill is restored and the building is gently expanded by an annexe which allows rooms without pillars. In the existing building, all historic traces are sustained; the character of the large spinning halls is also preserved. The first floor becomes the central distributor. It connects the town to the river's side of the building and can be reached via a generous external staircase with a high amenity value. A terrace with a view onto the river forms the counterpart to the newly set town square.
