House in Ohno
Gifu, Japan
A house planned in Ono-cho, Ibi-gun, Gifu Prefecture. This area is famous for its production of fuyu persimmons. We received an offer to use part of a persimmon field as the site for the project. The building was designed to be an open space with high ceilings, so it was constructed as a box with seven thick pillars on which a large roof was placed. The persimmon tree maintains privacy from the outside while providing a sense of openness, and the interior space is calm and serene. The persimmon tree creates various landscapes as it changes with the seasons, creating a rich living space that feels as if it is protected by the persimmon.
