Restyling project for a former barn in a farmhouse from the early 1900s in the Veneto countryside.

What was once a barn located above the stable now becomes a private residence, trying to maintain some characteristic elements of the rural warehouse.

Access to the residence is via the steel staircase from the large south-facing porch. The arrival gallery leads to the large glass window protected by a membrane of vertical larch wood slats, the same wood used in the roof. This large double-height membrane opens at the entrance and the opening of the study.

The distribution elements recall the typical typology of the farmhouse in the Veneto countryside.

Inside, the rhythm of the tripartite plan is marked by large stone and brick walls, restored with original materials such as the beams that make up the attic, enhancing the passage of time on their surfaces.

The distribution between the first and second floors is via an internal staircase. On the first floor there is the entrance, the living area, a study and some service areas. On the second floor there is the master bedroom, a second bedroom, the bathroom and a closet connected by a large distribution space. All the rooms on the second floor have exposed wooden roofs.

The interior spaces have a contemporary feel that enhances the pre-existing features through the contrast between the new surfaces and the rough, almost raw, existing ones. Even the artificial lighting works in this direction, alternating hidden light sources with simple design lighting fixtures, in line with the minimal concept that guides the entire project.
