Hither Hills

Photo © Martin Architects

Engineered and natural materials create a plateau allowing for indoor and outdoor spaces to come together in a natural rhythm, blending public and private living. Nestled into the hillside, the private lower-level slips into the landscape, where one can view the fern forest. Above, a raised infinity pool carves into the earth. Tying the two levels together is a material palette of shou sugi ban, dark metal, glass, exposed concrete, and fine stucco. Deftly layered, they help to create a synthesized composition and form.
