The headquarters of the Fielmann AG in Hamburg Barmbek is currently undergoing a transformation: The multi-part office building is to be completely modernised and extended by 2025. The company's own IT department was chosen as a pilot project for the redesign measures – on 1,000 m², an agile working environment was created, which promotes communication, collaboration and employee productivity. The conversion of the office space was carried out by the the Lindner SE.
The Fielmann Group is a listed family business and is one of the largest optician chains in Europe: More than 1,100 employees work in various administrative departments at the company headquarters in Hamburg. In order to provide them with optimum working conditions, the architecture firm Design2Sense designed an agile office concept focused on "New Work". Taking into account increasing digitalisation, internationalisation and networking, a contemporary working environment was created centering the user.
The IT department of the Fielmann AG now shines in a new light: Detached rooms in the middle of the open space office complement the classic individual workstations – the use of floor-to-ceiling Lindner glass partitions and glass doors ensures transparency and discretion simultaneously. Additional meeting rooms, a creative space and boards for project work promote innovative thinking and teamwork. Acoustic optimisation is also becoming increasingly important: Thus, acoustically effective canopy ceilings and round acoustic elements were installed.
As a general contractor, Lindner was involved in the redesign of the IT department with a variety of fit-out services: In addition to drywall work, the production, delivery and installation of canopy ceilings, glass partition systems and doors were included. Thanks to individual design, these fit in perfectly with the office spaces. Lindner was also responsible for the cloakroom and sanitary fittings, as well as other joinery, painting and flooring work. Three different "telephone booths" allow employees to withdraw into an undisturbed working environment. In this context, Lindner developed a CAS Room in cooperation with Carpet Concept and the GiB innovative Bautechnologie mbH – it was tailored precisely to the requirements of Fielmann and thus offers space for concentration and creativity. As shown in studies, regular breaks increase concentration and performance: Therefore, the heart of the new office space is the lounge with a kitchen and oak seating stairs. With the help of wooden slats, this is separated from the open work areas.
